Cycling the wall
The wall around Xi'an, China is the oldest continuous wall in China and we decided we just had to cycle it. It is 13 kms around the whole wall. The first bicycle rental place we came to only had 2 single bikes and one double bikes. Kelly and I decided to team up on the bicycle built for two. Apparently there is a nack to it and we just didn't have it. So after providing about 10 mins. worth of hysterical entertainment for anyone within sight, we found another bike rental spot and traded in our double bike for 2 singles. Things went much better from there.
The wall is much wider than we anticipated, which was very nice. However, the bricks are not particularly even and the seats on the bikes not particularly soft, so the rear end got quite sore quite quickly. Above, Campbell stops before passing one of the several pagodas along the wall.
The air quality isn't exactly ideal for cycling, but the kids didn't seem to mind.
Kelly was happy to pose during one of her breaks.
This is a view down one of the main streets looking north to the Drum Tower in the distance.
