Hong Kong

A flight from Guilin directly to Hong Kong is considered an international flight and is therefore very expensive. We opted to fly from Guilin to Shenzhen, which is a domestic flight, and then take a bus for about an hour to Hong Kong. It really could not have been easier and it saved us quite a bit of money.
We arrived in Hong Kong late in the afternoon. We had made reservations to stay at the youth hostel, but the road up the hill to the hostel is closed from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, so we wandered around town with our bags for the afternoon.

There was quite a haze over the city, but we still marveled a the sheer number and height of the buildings in Hong Kong.

The harbour is a busy spot with all kinds of vessels coming and going.

The streets are clean and the city really is very nice.

This was the night view of Hong Kong harbour from the youth hostel high up on Mount Davis. We only stayed in Hong Kong for one night, which wasn't nearly long enough to do the city justice. It is certainly one place we would like to go back to and spend more time. That is...when we have more money!!
