Bagamoyo Beach

After we recuperated for a couple of days in the lower altitude, we headed off from Moshi to Dar es Salaam by bus.

This wasn't actually our bus, but we did have one that was similar for the 7 hour bus ride to Dar es Salaam. Our plan was to take the ferry from Dar to Zanzibar to relax on the beach for a few days. However, when we got to Dar, we were told that the ferries are incredibly busy at this time of the year and when we checked on line for a place to stay, we couldn't find anything that was remotely within our budget. So we decided to head north to Bagamoyo Beach.

It certainly wasn't Zanzibar, but it was a beach and it was out of town. We stayed in a budget motel, which was okay, but nothing to write home about.

The beach was fine, but it was just so hot that we weren't really able to just relax.

We spent 3 days at our motel. We wandered the beach, but...

we spent the majority of our time at the hotel next door to ours. It was more expensive than we were willing to pay to stay there, but they didn't seem to mind us hanging out in the restaurant. It was much nicer than ours and had a better selection on the menu. After 3 days, we decided we couldn't stand the heat any more, so we headed back to Dar es Salaam and arranged our flight to Johannesburg.
