Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples
The hostel engages several tuk-tuk drivers to ensure it's guests do not get ripped off while traveling within Siem Reap. We arranged to have one of these tuk-tuk drivers take us to Angkor Wat and the temples in the area. Not only did our driver give us a very fair price, he also turned out to be an awesome tour guide. Normally that would have cost us an additional $20, but this fellow just gave us a play by play because he enjoyed doing it.
There is no way to convey the feelings one gets when wandering through these ancient temples. The architecture and detail are absolutely beautiful.
The immensity of the buildings are truly amazing.
Everywhere you turn, there is something more to see.
But every once in awhile, you need to just sit down and take a break.
Dean shows off his new Khmer scarf on our way from one temple to another in the tuk-tuk.
Another temple with intricate detail of each of the spires.
On each side of every spire was a face looking down at us.
Kelly takes a little break inside where it is a bit cooler.
The trees have grown right over the walls of this temple. This is where they filmed a portion of an Indiana Jones film.
It feels as earie as it looks. You can just imagine how engulfed in jungle the temples were when they were discovered. It was a very hot day to be wandering around temples, but the sights were well worth it.
