Sightseeing in San Francisco
First off, we checked in to our first youth hostel. It was awesome. We had a private room with 2 sets of bunkbeds and a view to die for. Our window overlooked the bay with Alcatraz to the right and the Golden Gate Bridge to the left. I could have sat and watched the sailboats all day. Instead, we walked and toured all around the city. The youth hostel was right beside Fisherman's Wharf so sightseeing was very easy.
The kids were thrilled to each have a top bunk and Dean and I were thrilled to each not have a top bunk. All worked out well.
The weather was perfect and we spent lots of time wandering around the piers.
Kelly couldn't resist hopping on a utility truck for a photo op.
Kelly and the sea lions at Pier 39. It took us a bit to get to the sea lions as we had to wait until the conservation authority removed one of the sea lions because it was sick and they didn't want it to infect the others. It was quite the operation and well worth watching.
Sunset over Alcatraz.
Judy's birthday lunch complete with a live blues band. We ended up going back to the same restaurant for dinner the next evening. It was fabulous.
